ARTIST STATEMENT:

This series is another favorite of mine. I train Bonsai and have for years. I try to make them look as natural in their setting as possible. To me the beauty is trying to replicate the nature around the trees as well. To further that concept I paint my little trees as if in a vast natural landscape.

I have since expanded the series and am working on a small book with this new concept. Now I am painting and drawing trees that remind me of Bonsai specimines in the wild here in Brooklyn. These trees I either depict with some city structures around them or as if they were free in a field, on a mountain, etc.
